Key Experience:
Environmental and Sustainability Management:
Wide experience of introducing EMAS in the UK and others parts of Europe including Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Greece, Italy and the Ukraine;
European Projects development and Management:
Successful track record in attracting EU funding and carrying through EU projects to their conclusion since the start of business in 1996. Project funding included Thermie, FP6, LIFE and IEE.
Sustainable Technologies:
Advocate of the introduction of environmentally more sustainable technologies in a wide range of areas. Practical experience in introducing such technologies including low emission vehicles and testing car sharing in the UK. Key experience relates to the introduction of 1200 Low emission vehicles across Europe via the ZEUS project.
Sustainable Procurement:
Helping clients to adapt their procurement to more sustainable outcomes. Key issue here relates to the systematic management of procurement processes for more sustainable outcomes. Key work includes assisting ESPO with the 2007 and 2011 National Sustainable Products Catalogue.
Procurement processes and contracts
Adapting tenders and contracts to achieve optimum sustainability outcomes within given financial parameters. Key work involves working with ESPO on over 20 substantial regional and national framework contracts.
European Good Practice
Researching and spreading the word about good European practice in the sustainability field.
Training and development:
Training of Local Authorities in some 10 EU countries on EMS and advising on its introduction
Committee work:
Participation in a range of Committees including advising the Secretary of State for the Environment on the Introduction of EMAS in the UK, committee member of the Natural Step, Chair of the TCPA’s Zero Carbon Task Force and Chair of the Climate Change Panel of Stroud District Council.
